Solar Installation
Our Assessment
We were asked by our client to undertake a solar installation on the property. Our initial interactions with the D.N.O were really positive, and all communications and paperwork were undertaken in house. We installed energy monitoring equipment to understand the energy consumption requirements of our client then engineered a solution that optimized the size of the array in relation to the factory’s roof space.
The factory was orientated in a slightly sub optimal position but because of the large roof area it allowed us to over scale the array to compensate for this.
The Design
We designed the system to be 200Kw in size, this allowed the client to support day production throughout a 9-month period.
Working with an independent roofing inspector. We were able to maximise the number of panels that could be fitted whilst maintaining the structural integrity of the building.
The Installation
Once the design had been finalised, we organised the 180 meters of scaffolding to be erected and the under netting installed.
We proceeded to get the 310 panels installed onto the roof along with the new switch gear, BMS and cable containment within a 3-week period.
Once the installation was complete, we tested and commissioned the installation and attended the onsite witness testing by the D.N.O
In the first week of installation, the array was fully able match the electrical demand for the shop floor between a period of 9am an 3pm. The system is on course to save over 6.25 million kilowatt hours throughout its working life.
