Joules Brewery Water Treatment Process Plant

The task in hand

We were instructed to undertake the design, manufacture and installation of a water treatment processing unit for our wastewater client.

The client had significantly increased their beer production output and had their wastewater to drain license removed because of the volume of sweet and hoppy water they were now producing.

This waste liquor is great to make beer however it is terrible for natural water courses and the environment as it encourages bacterial growths and adjusts the Ph levels of the water.

We liaised with the water treatment team and the end client to come up with easy-to-use water treatment plant. Our design team developed a scalable yet easy to control system that would allow for remote diagnostic and monitoring if required.

The system was designed to alter the pH of the liquor and remove sediment so that it could be stored ready to be transported by tanker for further treatment. Once the design had been approved it was then manufactured in house and tested off site prior to installation.

On time and on budget

Whilst the panel was being manufactured our onsite installation team worked together with the treatment engineers and civils contractor to install the main infrastructure. GRAYS installed the containment, control cabling and equipment ready for commissioning prior to the control panel being delivered to site.

The whole idea of this project was to keep onsite activity to a minimum as the site was very challenging due to it small footprint. By utilising our off site resources to undertake the containment fabrication, as well as having everything tested prior to installation, allowed our team to complete the project safely, on time and on budget.
